Homestay message
We are a young family in Adelaide with our two daughters, Aprilia (5 years old) & Averil (4 years old). I work at the University of Adelaide in the city whereas my wife is having her hands full taking care of our two young kids.
About Our Home
Our 3-bedroom house is located in a modern suburb of Mawson Lakes in Adelaide, South Australia. The house was built in February 2008, we moved in July, so everything is relatively new. You can find out more about our suburb at www.mawsonlakescommunity.com.au. We are located about 20 minutes from the city where University of Adelaide, University of South Australia (UniSA) and a whole lot more other city based colleges and TAFE colleges are situated. UniSA and Endeavour College have campuses in Mawson Lakes, are within walking/cycling distance. There is also a golf course and a Technology Park within Mawson Lakes.
There are 2 train stations and a major bus interchange located near our house. Greenfield train station is only 5 minutes walk from the house, whereas Mawson Interchange for bus and train is 10 minutes walk. So it is very convenient for a family with kids like ours to go to the city by train should we decide not to drive there. Transport cost for student is AUD$14.40 for a 10-trips ticket during normal times and AUD$7.60 per 10-trips ticket during off-peak hours. Within Mawson Lakes, there are a variety of shops, supermarket (Woolworths), banks, clinics, lots of parks, cafes, KFC, Hungry Jacks, Subway, etc. all within cycling/walking distance.
About The Room & Facilities
We provide a furnished private room for your use. The room is carpeted and there is central cooling system for the whole house. You will share the use of the bathroom and toilet. We have a washing machine for you to do your own laundry. Iron and ironing board can be borrowed for your use.
You can choose have your own wireless broadband internet access or shared use, the cost to be determine accordingly. We do not however provide computers, so you will either have to buy or bring your own computer.
We prefer that you stay for about 2 semesters (9-10 months) or longer so that we can get to know each other more.
